On March 1, 2025, HomeCare Professionals, Inc. (HCP) will celebrate its 20-year anniversary. As the Founder and CEO of HCP, I take great pride in our success and ability to reach this milestone. Achieving such longevity means that a great number of things have gone right over the past 2 decades: great hires, good decisions, timely support, and some good luck along the way.
While every entrepreneur anticipates success when launching their venture, I did not envision the growth HCP would experience over the years to come. I started HCP and hired a trusted friend on day 1. While we were naive and made mistakes, we believed that our integrity and our dedication to helping those in need would ultimately bring us success. In our first year, HCP provided care to just over 40 seniors requiring assistance to remain living at home from one small location in Daly City, California. 19 years later, HCP provided care to over 10,000 people in need across 10 different locations covering much of Northern & Central California.
At times, it is nearly impossible to recognize that tiny company from 20 years ago. Today HCP has an ever-expanding list of hundreds of employees in numerous departments, contracts with federal / state / local programs to subsidize care for those in need, dozens of vendors, a dynamic online presence – all of the block and tackle that a thriving company needs in today’s world.
Yet, despite the growth & success that have come in the last few decades, the feel of HCP remains unmistakable and unchanged. Our values remain the same as when we started. My trusted friend & HCP’s first employee is still running our first office. While we certainly take a measure of pride in the growth of the numbers on paper, what truly matters most is that our growth has enabled us to help more people in need. The difference HCP makes in the lives of those we care for and their families is far and away our most profound achievement these last 20 years.
