Work out What Help She May Need

Luckily, there are some typical needs that you can start to consider now. For instance, your elderly family member is likely going to need some help eventually with household tasks, meal preparation, grocery shopping, and possibly transportation. As her situation continues to change, that’s when you’re looking at bigger forms of help, such as help with bathing and dressing. There’s no exact timetable for these needs, but they’re coming.

Start to Put Solutions in Place Now

One thing that you and your senior can do now to prepare for those needs in the future is to start accessing help from senior care services. You may only need small amounts of help now, but you can ramp up assistance as your elderly family member needs it. This also helps to remove doubts from your senior about how someone else can assist her.

Aging in place may well be something your senior can do, even with significant health issues and needs, but you’ll need to be able to plan for it. Implementing a strategy on the fly is usually not going to be smooth sailing and can cause more problems than you’re able to handle for your senior. Planning ahead helps both of you to ensure that she’s in the best hands possible.
