Easter falls on April 12th this year. With many states still asking residents to isolate themselves and stay home until mid-April, it’s going to impact Easter celebrations. If you’re still self-isolating, you’re going to have to change your Easter plans. Here are some of the ways to make the day memorable without having family gatherings.
Set Up Your Own Egg Hunt
Your kids may be missing a community egg hunt. If it’s a family tradition, they will miss it. Create your own this year. Get the supplies and fill the plastic eggs. You can have your children help. During the night, long after they’ve gone to sleep, hide the eggs outside in the yard away from any roads.
Keep a list of where you’ve hidden the eggs. Make the egg hunt as hard or easy as the child needs. The next morning, you can go outside as a family and watch as your kids hunt for the eggs. You have the list of spots to ensure all eggs are found.
To make it fair, you can designate one color for one child, one color for another, etc. That way they all get the same number of eggs, which eliminates any hurt feelings. If a child does find a different color egg, that child puts it back and keeps quiet unless the other child wants help.
Watch an Easter-Themed Movie
After your Easter meal, put on an Easter-themed movie. Your kids may love Hop, an animated movie about the Easter Bunny (E.B. for short). E.B. heads to Hollywood dreaming of becoming a rock star, but he and a new buddy end up needing to save Easter.
Hugh Jackman is an Australian Easter rabbit in the animated Rise of the Guardians. Many holiday figures from Bunnymund to Santa team up to fight evil.
Chat Online
Use Google Hangouts or another service of that nature and have everyone connect through video chats. Your family, your siblings’ families, and your parents can all connect and see each other without being in the same home or area.
With the help of elder care aides, your parents have assistance with daily tasks throughout the year. You may want to be part of your mom and dad’s care plan, but you need some time for work and your personal interests. Elder care is the best way to ensure they have the help they need as often as they need it.
